Did you know Cheviot had two local movie theaters? It's true, Chevwood Theater, a contraction of Cheviot and Westwood, was located at 3620 Harrison Ave. The theater was renamed "New Twin City Theater" in 1917 and renamed again to Chevwood in 1927. The theater has seen quite a few changes since then. In 1941, Chevwood was purchased by the Midwestern movie chain of Manny Marcus, who also owned the Esquire Theater in Clifton. Chevwood was also converted into a Veterans of Foreign Wars Hall and a location for TB Sports in 2010.
Below is a newspaper clipping from the Cincinnati Enquire from December 5, 1941, about the purchase.
