Friends, last weekend I reached peak Midwestern. I shopped at the new Kroger Marketplace, located at 5910 Harrison Avenue, during their grand opening weekend...and I took pictures! Grand opening weekend boasted so many fun activities. There were food sample opportunities (we especially loved the sushi!) $2 Starbucks beverages, face panting and balloon animals for the kiddies, fun friends from the Newport Aquarium, special sales, and even an amazing giveaway for a $250 Kroger gift card!
This new 124,000 square foot store replaces the old store, formally located just across the parking lot. The Kroger gas station, while undergoing its own renovation, remains in the same place. Kroger Marketplace boasts a wide variety of amenities for those looking for one stop shopping. This setup is reminiscent of Meijer and Super Target in that you can purchase food, clothing, toys, housewares and much more during the same trip as your regular grocery run. And get this, the non-food items are actually awesome!
In September of 2018, Kroger announced it's new clothing and housewares line made
in collaboration with fashion designer Joe Mimran, a new line called Dip was formed. "No detail in the fit and finish of Dip has been overlooked," offered Joe Mimran, creative director. "Dip is reflective of customers' true needs and built around a foundation of key modern pieces. It's fresh. It feels fantastic in your hand. It's a fun attitude. It's all those things. These are clothes for really living life in and looking good while doing it." Not to mention the price point is perfect, with many items falling in the under $20 range.
In addition to the new clothing and housewares line, Kroger Marketplace also boasts a sushi bar, fried chicken bar, handmade pizzas, cheese bar, wine and beer bar, and two seating/dining areas. Sounds like a great date night spot! Have dinner and drinks at Kroger then hop over to the Cinemark Theater right next door to catch the latest flick.
Feeling a bit under the weather? The Kroger Little Clinic and Pharmacy each have their own special entrances so you can get right to feeling better, without needing to walk the whole store. Also featured is a 5/3 Bank, with an ATM as well as a counter with tellers. This truly is a one stop shop.
