Tamaya Dennard releases a statement. "Last week, I promised my constituents that I would make a decision about my future on Cincinnati City Council," continuing with "It is with great sadness that I announce my resignation effective today, March 2, 2020. The last thing I want is to be a distraction from the work that needs to be done for this city. My main focus has been the people I serve. I need all of my time and energy to address these charges against me. It is for this reason I have decided to step aside."
This statement from Dennard comes less than 24 hours after Hamilton County Prosecutor Joe Deters said in a statement he would pursue filing state bribery charges against Dennard. “She can go the easy way or the hard way. This is not Cincinnati. That’s not the way we are. The evidence here is overwhelming and she needs to get out," said Deters.
