Peter M. Rebold.

You will be hard-pressed to find a Cheviot resident who hasn’t heard the name, Peter Rebold.  That being said, it is equally as rare to hear someone say an ill word about the man.  In fact, chances are, if a new city development goes up, there’s a good chance Rebold was involved in some way to help make it possible. Rebold told the Cheviot Gazette, “Cheviot’s always been good to me, I feel I owe it to them”.

Peter M. Rebold is a member of the Cheviot-Westwood Kiwanis Club and has served as the club's former President.  The Cheviot-Westwood Kiwanis Club ran the Harvest Home Fair from 1939, until recently.  Although the Kiwanis Club is still actively participating in running the fair, a new organization deemed the Harvest Home Fair Association was created to make it easier for younger generations to step up, and take over the needs of the fair. Peter Rebold incorporated the Harvest Home Fair Association and secured the tax-exempt status from the IRS.

Peter Rebold was the Harvest Home Fair Chair for the 2018 and 2019 Fairs.  He will remain at the head of the table for the 2020 fair as well.  Rebold recognizes the importance of keeping the Harvest Home Fair alive and reenergizing the magic it brings to the community. The Harvest Home Fair has been a Westside tradition since 1860 and has raised over 3milion dollars for local communities and charities since 1939 when the Kiwanis Club first took over leadership of the fair.

Pete is admired around the Cheviot community and recognized as saving the Harvest Home Fair.  However, he will be the first to tell you he couldn’t have done it alone.  The Kiwanis Club, and The Harvest Home Fair Association, put in a combined total of 2,160 hours in preparation of and during this year's fair.  Rebold put in 106 hours himself, clocking in more hours than any other member of the Kiwanis or HHFA. Perhaps Pete still has enough in him to be the Fair Chair for another 10 years?  Let’s hope so.  It is for these reasons and so many more, the Cheviot Gazette has selected Peter M. Rebold as a nominee for Cheviot Person of the Year 2019.
